Would you apply snail slime to your face if it could reduce wrinkles and clear acne?
From a backyard pest to the most sought after beauty product in Chile and South Korea, snail slime based skin products will soon be introduced to the consumers of America - but just how will they react to it? Primarily marketed as an acne solution, the snail’s mucus is also said to have healing properties for scars and burns this isn’t anything out of the ordinary to the Ancient Greeks and most European skin creams.
Fast forward to the 21st century and the properties of the slime were discovered by Chilean farmers who claimed their skin healed quicker, without scarring by handling the snails for the French food market. These same farmers went on to create a snail slime skin product called Elicina. - Since then, 2 other Korean brands have created their very own range of snail slime products; Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Cream (by Missha) & Prestige Cream D’escargot (by Its Skin).
“But why snail slime?” you may ask! well according to the Daily Mail’s beauty columnist, Elsa McAlonan, ‘snail extract is well known for its super-moisturising properties’. The actual snail slime is a complex mix of proteins, elastin and glycolic acids which protect the snails’ skin from damage, infection and UV rays. But despite all the properties of the slime, scientists are still pretty sceptical about the new found beauty regime - but that’s not stopping all the praise about it over on the internet!
This isn’t the first bizarre ingredient to be sold over the counter, there’s been an array of weird and wonderful treats for the skin such as bull semen and bird poo - but just how far would you go for that youthful glow? tweet me your opinions at @TDRheartsNY!

Following up from her highly successful book ‘Style’, Our favourite Californian babe is back with another tutorial filled book, ‘Beauty’!
As a huge fan of LC and her blog ‘The Beauty Department’ there’s no doubt that ‘Beauty’ is going to be filled with a ton of hints and tips! I have Lauren’s first book ‘Style’ and it was such a wise purchase, as I’m starting college pretty soon, and ‘Style’ is a great reference book when it comes to essential things I need in my wardrobe, and I have no doubt that ‘Beauty’ will be just as useful, from manicure inspirations to the perfect winged eye-liner, this book is definitely on my pre-order list!
‘Beauty’ is to arrive in stores, October 16th but you can pre-order it HERE on Amazon.

The Thinspiration Problem: My Response

I love IFB and all the articles and tips it has provided for me, I check it daily for any new content, its actually pretty addictive now that I think of it. Anyways, whilst being on IFB, I noticed their new article named ‘The Thinspiration Problem: Where Do Fashion Bloggers Factor In?’ (click here to read it), and after reading it I thought I should share with my readers/followers my opinion on this whole ‘Size 0/Thinspiration/Body image’ debate..

Being a teenager, especially one who is addicted to all things that are glamorous and fashionable, I am definitely aware of things concerning society’s perception of beauty and the ‘ideal’ body for a woman. If I can be perfectly honest, yes it does effect me. I admit, when I’m watching ’Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ or flicking through the pages of ELLE, I do get conscious of my appearance and feel a little crap about myself, lol - but I am a 15 year old girl, this is totally normal. At the same time, I feel perfectly happy and secure with how I am. I know that was a total contradiction, but think about it; all the women we see in the media are millionaires, with a team of stylists, personal trainers and assistants around them 24/7, and as well as all of that, all the images we see are heavily enhanced, whether its trimming off a bit of fat or covering a few wrinkles and blemishes, if they weren’t looking good, then some isn’t right, Lol. Because I know all of this, I’ve learnt (well.. trying) to love all my imperfections, because at the end of the day, we’re all women and we all have a few things we dislike about ourselves.

I don’t agree with the whole ‘Size 0’ phenomena, and I don’t believe in starving/harming yourself for the sake of vanity. I believe that every size is beautiful, and the only problem there is, is embracing it.

I believe in being healthy; eating right, daily exercise and just overall self loving baby! Scarlett Johansson, Tara Lynn, Beyonce Knowles, Misha Barton, Kim K and Christina Hendricks - These ladies are my Curvespiration! (that was a very lame attempt at making a new word, LOL) All of these women are curvy, healthy and absolutely gorgeous!

I think blogging is the perfect way to express and share your own style and views, so as a blogger, I am going to make sure I include posts for all women, for all different sizes! I want to embrace curves and body diversity right here on my blog! So stay tuned ;)

What do you think about this ‘Thinspo’ craze ? Are you Pro-Anorexia ?
