Hey beautiful people!….
By now all my fellow UK Kardashian fans must have noticed this accessory worn by all the Kardashian sisters in “Kourtney & Kim Take Miami”
At first I thought it was a plain gold bar necklace but after a little research I found out that it’s actually an nameplate necklace that has not only been worn by the Kardashian sisters but other A-Listers such as Jessica Alba and Beyonce. Designed by Jennifer Meyer and costing $1100 (£720).
Now for those of us who have got £700 to spend on this particular accessory, theurbansmith.com offers a wide range of personalised necklaces and bracelets with prices starting at £45! and all real gold, total steal! Below are some of their pieces…..

Few of their items remind me of the Marc Jacobs padlocks I’ve seen floating around Tumblr and Instagram. After browsing their site, I think I might have to persuade the mama bear for a cheeky little purchase ;-)
What do you think of these nameplate necklaces, too plain or right up your lane? (dear God, I’m sorry for the cheese there. couldn’t resist.)

I am in LOVE with every single one of these beautiful dresses, from ASOS’s newest brand; Needle & Thread.
“Based in both London and Delhi, Needle & Thread is a new label that expresses itself through beautiful hand-embellished designs. Under the creative direction of Hannah Coffin,Needle & Thread present a fun and eclectic S/S’13 collection that lists Aztec patterns and Mexican art as inspiration. Created with a beach to bar feel, these standout pieces are embellished by hand in India and are destined to take pride of place in your wardrobe.”
I’m a massive fan of designers such as Elie Saab and Jenny Packham whom thrive on embellishments and sparkle in most of their collections, so it’s no surprise that I am madly in love with these gorgeous designs from Needle & Thread. Whilst some dresses have a few Art Deco/Gatsby elements to it, I definitely agree with the statement above on the collection having a “beach bar feel” to it. I could so imagine Serena Van Der Woodsen in one of these items in Santourini! Haha! ;-)
I also love how the dresses are embellished by hand in India (my homeland! LOL). And don’t get me wrong, I love the Mexican inspiration and the aztec prints - very on trend! But I’m hoping the next collections will have more of a Asian influence…
With that being said, I can’t wait to see more of Needle & Thread!

#PROM2013 - Pinks & Peaches
Pinks, Corals, Peaches….. the perfect summer colour and the perfect colour scheme to go by for Prom.
Nude shoes are an ultimate classic, so splurging on these for prom can be easily explained as an investment ;-)
Regarding jewellery you can go two ways; gold! still roughly staying within the colour palette or mix it up! I love harsh, contrasting colours on pastels, gives the whole look a modern twist!
I hope this second installment to my Prom series has helped! and please feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

#PROM2013 | A Gatsby Inspired Prom Outfit..
As I said in my previous post, the first installation of my Prom series shall be inspired an ultra-glamorous movie filled with Hollywood stars….. The Great Gatsby!
I couldn’t think of a better film to draw inspiration from. For me Gatsby is a must-see for 2 reasons; it’s one of my favourite books and Miuccia Prada made the costumes worn by Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan), each one more lavish than the next! and I’m talking crystal beaded gowns, exotic feathers and Tiffany’s pearl and diamond jewels sprinkled on top! Decadent, glamorous and wonderfully elegant, Gatsby is the best source of wardrobe inspiration for Prom.. and it kinda makes me wish I had one to go to this year! :-/ LOL
DRESS - “Flapper” dresses which were the main garment of choice in the 20s, are straight, loose and drops the waistline to the hips, one thing I love about Flapper dresses is the way they move whilst dancing which I guess is the point. The flapper dresses are particularly more flattering on a “boyish” figure so if you’re planning to show your curves at Prom, this look isn’t for you I’m afraid!
ACCESSORIES - Accessories consist a lot of Art Deco pieces including many layers of pearls and other beaded necklaces, the perfect excuse to do a little thrifting!
HAIR & MAKE-UP - I really liked this hair tutorial for a modern, 20s look that can easily be used for any special occasion. This make-up tutorial really is true to the 1920s era, however if this is going a little too far I found a tutorial for a much more softer look here.
Thank you for reading my first post of “#PROM2013” and I really hoped this helped a few of you! Stay tuned for more Prom posts coming soon.
